Dr. Barnett

Dr. Barnett received her undergraduate education from Birmingham-Southern College in 1982. She became a Medical Technologist, and then proceeded to medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She received the Department of Radiology Research Award, and the Eugene Bondurant Award for Excellence in Psychiatry. For her psychiatric training, she completed internship and residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. After obtaining board certification in General Psychiatry, she obtained board certifications in Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry.

She has been in the private practice of psychiatry since 1993. She has also been in a number of leadership roles. She was the Medical Director for the Agency for Community Treatment Services in Tampa for nearly five years. ACTS serves persons with addictions and co-occurring disorders. She conducted a clinic at Tri-County Services for the treatment of persons with co-occurring disorders for nearly ten years. She incorporates evidence-based practices in her management of addictive disorders. She has been certified as a Medical Review Officer. She has received many other awards, including America’s Top Psychiatrists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America and Top Doctors by Tampa Bay Metro Magazine. She was named Practitioner of the Year for 2018 by the Florida Psychiatric Society and a Distinguished Fellow by the American Psychiatric Association.
